The homogeneous tech industry
The IT and tech industry is still largely male-dominated and relatively homogeneous. This is partly due to structures and norms that have long influenced who chooses to pursue education and careers in technology. Equality and inclusion therefore concern not only representation in numbers, but also culture, conditions and the opportunities people feel they have.
This reality is reflected in many organisations, including at Consid. Just as in the industry at large, representation varies across different roles and areas of expertise. It is a complex issue influenced by several factors, such as educational choices, role models, working environments and expectations.
To create real change, we must therefore work long-term with both structures and culture. This means highlighting challenges, creating inclusive working environments and helping more people see the tech industry as a possible and attractive career path.
Internally
Through Q Balance, an initiative within the Q by Consid platform, we work internally to create an inclusive working environment where all employees have equal opportunities to develop, contribute and take space. The initiative focuses on strengthening structures, leadership and culture so that more perspectives are represented within the organisation.
Externally
Through Q by Consid, Consid also works to promote a more equal and inclusive tech industry from a broader perspective. Through themed events, workshops, networking meetings, lectures and partnerships, we aim to increase knowledge, highlight role models and strengthen engagement with these issues both within the industry and in society.
