Strategic meeting with Ministry for Digitalisation

Consid recently took part in a high-level meeting at the Nordic Embassies in Berlin together with representatives from Germany’s newly established Federal Ministry of Digital & State Modernisation. The meeting brought together leading stakeholders from the Nordic countries to discuss digitalisation, artificial intelligence, and the future of public administration.

During the meeting, the new German ministry presented its vision and mandate, focusing on how a unified digital authority can contribute to increased efficiency, improved coordination, and more citizen-centric public services. Discussions particularly centred on the new opportunities this creates for citizens, as well as how innovation can be integrated through collaboration between public institutions, the private sector, experts, and broader innovation ecosystems.

Consid participated alongside other Nordic companies and organisations, contributing concrete examples and best practices from public-sector digitalisation projects across the Nordic region. Sam Storm, one of the official speakers, shared insights from Consid’s work in digital transformation, AI, and data-driven development in close collaboration with public authorities. Lars Napret, Head of Consid in Hamburg, and Patrik Hall, Head of Consid in Germany, represented Consid in panel discussions and public dialogues.

Nordic experience as a source of inspiration

A central part of the discussions focused on how digital consultancy partners such as Consid can support public administrations in accelerating their modernisation journeys. Key topics included the barriers that continue to slow progress—technical, organisational, and regulatory—and how these challenges can be addressed.

Based on Nordic experience, differences between public-sector digitalisation in countries such as Sweden and Germany were also discussed. The importance of user-centred design, agile development methods, clear governance, and long-term collaboration between public authorities and suppliers was highlighted as critical success factors. Several Nordic approaches were identified as potential models for accelerating modernisation efforts in Germany.

Citizen focus, AI and trust

A recurring theme was how digital solutions can be designed to genuinely improve the citizen experience. Insights from Consid’s projects demonstrated that early user involvement, continuous feedback, and a strong focus on accessibility are key to creating services that are widely adopted and valued.

The discussions also addressed how public institutions can leverage AI and data analytics in a responsible manner. Issues related to security, transparency, and regulatory compliance were central, as were differences in regulatory frameworks between Germany and other countries where Consid operates.

– This meeting clearly demonstrates that the challenges facing public administrations are shared across borders. At the same time, there is a strong willingness to learn from one another. The Nordic countries have a great deal to contribute when it comes to digitalisation, AI, and citizen-centric public services, says Sam Storm from Consid.

Consid’s participation in the meeting underscores the company’s ambition to be an active partner in the international dialogue on the digital transformation of the public sector—contributing both strategic expertise and hands-on experience.
