An industry for everyone

Digitalisation permeates virtually every sector today and will continue to shape both the labour market and wider society for many years to come. By sparking children’s and young people’s interest in technology at an early age, we increase the likelihood that more will pursue technical education and career paths – something that is crucial to meeting future skills demands.

At the same time, the technology sector remains male-dominated and relatively homogeneous. This is a structure we are actively working to change through initiatives such as Q by Consid and Consid Youth Education. When children and young people – regardless of gender, background or prior exposure – are given the opportunity to explore programming and technology early on, barriers are lowered and more begin to see that a future in tech is both possible and relevant.

The modern society

For us, this is not solely about encouraging more people to pursue careers in IT. Digital competence is now a fundamental societal skill. The ability to understand how technology works, how digital systems influence our daily lives, and how data and AI shape decision-making is essential in order to participate actively and responsibly in modern society.

Programming also fosters analytical thinking, creative problem-solving and structured ways of working – skills that are valuable regardless of sector or career choice. By combining pedagogy with practical application, we create the conditions for both curiosity and confidence to grow. Investing in children’s and young people’s interest in technology is therefore not only a matter of future talent supply. It is a long-term commitment to greater inclusion, strengthened innovation capacity and sustainable societal development.
