Scalable IAM delivery gives Scania greater flexibility and stability

Scania wanted to create a more flexible and scalable approach to managing manual IT access permissions within Identity and Access Management (IAM). Through a dedicated delivery from Consid, Scania has strengthened its Access Management capabilities and established a stable foundation for meeting the needs of the business – both today and in the future.

Flexible support within Identity and Access Management

Scania’s Access Management function handles a large number of requests related to accounts and IT access permissions. At the same time, resource requirements can vary over time, creating a need for a delivery model that combines stability and control with the flexibility to adapt capacity to the needs of the business. Consid was therefore tasked with establishing a dedicated IAM delivery as an integrated part of Scania’s Access Management function. A five-person team, including a Service Manager, works alongside Scania’s Product Owner and Access Management specialists to manage accounts and access permissions on an ongoing basis.

An integrated team focused on stable delivery

Consid’s team quickly familiarised themselves with Scania’s IAM processes, tools and ways of working. The day-to-day work takes place within Scania’s established systems and includes managing access requests and permissions, as well as continuously developing the internal knowledge base. Requests are managed through Scania’s central case management system and monitored against defined SLAs. Access requests are submitted through structured workflows in a portal, helping to ensure controlled and predictable management. For more complex or exceptional scenarios, the established processes are supplemented with script-based solutions where required. A key part of the delivery is the close collaboration between Scania and Consid. Through daily check-ins, the team can jointly prioritise work, respond to changing needs and quickly address any issues that arise within the delivery.

Greater flexibility and a stable foundation for continued development

Since the delivery began in September 2025, Scania has gained a more flexible resourcing model within Access Management. The dedicated delivery enables capacity to be adapted in response to changing needs, while ensuring that day-to-day operations are managed in a structured and predictable way.

The collaboration has resulted in greater resource flexibility, more predictable delivery to end users and an improved ability to scale capacity in line with the needs of the business.

Today, Consid operates as an integrated part of the delivery, with Scania and Consid working together towards shared goals rather than within a traditional client–supplier relationship.
