About the client

WINGS-Fernstudium is the distance-learning provider of Wismar University of Applied Sciences. WINGS offers part-time and online degree programmes. Through flexible study formats, digital learning materials and accredited qualifications, WINGS enables working professionals to advance their academic careers alongside their professional commitments.

Background 

Consid and WINGS began their collaboration in October 2024. The partnership started with a strategic workshop to define the most effective way forward for WINGS’ digital offering. The outcome was clear: a new mobile application was needed to support both current and future user needs. 

The existing mobile app had reached its technical limits. Complex update processes and the high effort required to introduce new functionality made further development inefficient. In addition, the lack of a future-proof technical foundation limited opportunities for long-term development and integration with other digital solutions.

A modern, future-proof technical foundation

As part of the project, Consid completely redesigned and rebuilt the mobile application using Ionic and Angular – a proven framework combination that enables cross-platform development while delivering a fast, stable and native-like user experience. 

The new solution is built on a modern architecture that includes: 

  • a modular and maintainable codebase 
  • contemporary UI components and UX patterns 
  • efficient state management 
  • This foundation ensures that the application is scalable, stable and well prepared for future growth. 

The technical renewal has delivered clear, measurable benefits. Performance on both iOS and Android has improved significantly, resulting in faster load times, smoother interactions and a consistent, high-quality user experience across all devices. The unified look and feel is fully aligned with the WINGS brand and contributes directly to increased user satisfaction. 

WINGS now benefits from reduced maintenance overhead, streamlined update processes and the ability to quickly introduce new features in response to user feedback or evolving business needs. The new mobile application provides a solid platform for continued digital development and long-term innovation.
