Strengthening Crisis Readiness through Simulation

Today, digital and organisational threats can quickly have a major impact on operations, making effective crisis preparedness essential. Consid was commissioned to conduct a realistic crisis simulation for an organisation that wanted to test and verify its existing continuity plans in practice. The result was an insightful and engaging exercise that provided concrete learnings for the future.

Consid demonstrated great commitment to the assignment, asked relevant questions, and contributed concrete improvement suggestions based on their experience and expertise. We also appreciated their attentiveness to our needs and circumstances, which enabled us to find effective ways forward together.

About the client

The client is a major player in its industry. With both digital and business-critical processes in focus, there was a clear need to test existing routines, roles, and communication channels – thereby ensuring that the organisation could act effectively in the event of a crisis.

From Theory to Practice in Crisis Management

Consid was commissioned to plan and carry out a crisis simulation focused on evaluating and developing the client’s continuity plans. An effective continuity plan is not just theoretical – it also requires concrete measures to ensure redundancy, recovery plans, communication, documentation, and clear instructions. The exercise therefore included scenarios that challenged technology, management, and communication alike, with the aim of fostering alignment, identifying areas for improvement, and strengthening internal collaboration.

Leadership, Engagement, and Clear Recommendations for Improvement

Led by Consid’s IT security specialists, the simulation was conducted in close collaboration with the client’s team. The work was characterised by strong participation, open discussions, and a shared focus on learning. With extensive experience in crisis management, risk analysis, and security governance, Consid’s consultants acted as both facilitators and advisors. Following the simulation, concrete recommendations were presented to enhance documentation, communication, and role allocation – providing the organisation with a clearer structure for handling future incidents.

Increased Confidence and Enhanced Crisis Response Capability

The simulation provided the client with valuable insights — both into how continuity plans function in practice and where they needed to be strengthened. The organisation gained a clearer understanding of roles and responsibilities, improved communication between key functions, and greater confidence in decision-making. The outcome was not only a more robust plan but also a strengthened security culture and a clear state of readiness for the future.
