Peter Hellgren

For Peter Hellgren, Consid’s journey has never been solely about technology or growth. It has always been about people – about creating a culture where ideas can flourish, where entrepreneurship is encouraged, and where people together build the company of the future.

Jag vill att Consid ska vara ett företag som sätter standarden i branschen – inte bara tekniskt, utan också kulturellt och ledarskapsmässigt.

An entrepreneurial journey rooted in Småland

Peter Hellgren’s entrepreneurial journey began in sales during the IT industry’s most dynamic period of development in the 1990s. It was there that he quickly learned how business is created in practice: through relationships, understanding, and long-term value creation.

Together with his colleague Henrik Sandell, he worked closely with clients at a time when digitalisation was beginning to transform the entire business landscape.

– We recognised early on the power of technological development. It was clear that digital transformation had only just begun.

The idea of starting a company of their own developed over several years. In 2000, Peter called Henrik, who was quick to join. Together they founded Consid with a clear ambition: to build the company they themselves had always wanted to work for – and one that clients would truly want to partner with.

It was also through this vision that Consid’s culture began to take shape. From the very beginning, the conviction was clear: a strong company is not built primarily through strategy documents or organisational charts, but through people.

– I had seen how much culture and leadership matter. In the right environment, people grow, take responsibility and drive development. That’s where real strength emerges within an organisation, says Peter.

Shortly after the company was founded, however, the market changed dramatically when the dot-com crash hit. For a young company without large margins, the period became a real test.

– It was a challenging time. But it also taught us something crucial: that long-term thinking, resilience and entrepreneurship are what build sustainable companies.

When Consid succeeded in winning a decisive client contract, the company’s trajectory shifted. From that point on, the business began to grow – step by step.

Leadership that builds people

Today, Peter Hellgren leads a company operating in several countries, with more than 40 offices across Northern Europe. Despite the international expansion, his leadership style remains characterised by close connections to both people and business.

– I’m still driven by the same things as when we started: building, developing ideas, and seeing people grow together.

His leadership philosophy is based on trust, responsibility and entrepreneurship within the organisation.

– Leadership is not about control. It’s about creating the conditions for people to succeed, take responsibility and develop.

In an industry where the pace of change continues to accelerate, he also sees adaptability as one of the most important qualities of modern organisations.

– We live in a time where technological development is moving faster than ever, not least through AI. At the same time, geopolitics and global developments are increasingly shaping the business landscape. For companies, this means it’s not only about long-term plans, but also about the ability to quickly understand new rules of the game and act accordingly.

His entrepreneurial curiosity also extends beyond work. When he is not working, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, often in nature or out on the water.

– That’s where I recharge. At the same time, I’m probably still an entrepreneur in my spare time. I enjoy following developments in business, reading and meeting people. It’s often in those conversations that new ideas begin to take shape.

The culture that shaped the company

Throughout Consid’s development, company culture has remained a central part of the strategy. Peter Hellgren and Henrik Sandell have consistently prioritised building an organisation where professionalism is combined with community and responsibility.

– Our belief is simple: people are the strongest driving force in a company. Strategies and business plans are important, but in the end it is people’s commitment, initiative and willingness to grow that determine whether a company succeeds.

That culture has also become one of Consid’s most distinctive strengths. Over the years, the company has received several awards recognising its work in workplace environment and corporate culture.

– When people enjoy their work, grow and feel proud of what they do, that’s when the best results are created.

For Peter, it is precisely the people he feels most proud of when reflecting on the company’s journey.

– In the beginning, we were just a few people with an idea. Today we are an organisation of committed individuals who together have built something strong.

A vision that continues to grow

When Peter Hellgren speaks about the future, it is less about size and more about direction. For him, Consid’s mission is to continue developing expertise, innovation and culture in step with the digitalisation of society.

– Growth in itself is not the goal. It is the result of continuing to do the right things over time. I want Consid to be a company that sets the standard in the industry – not only technically, but also culturally and in terms of leadership.

At the same time, the driving force behind the journey remains the same as when everything began in Vetlanda.

– Today, Consid is much more than a company. It is a community of people who together have built something strong. Being able to continue developing that and creating new opportunities for both our employees and our clients is a powerful motivation.

He pauses for a moment.

– And perhaps that’s why the motivation is still there – the feeling that the journey has only just begun.
