Father and daughter win this year’s Considition and 40 000 at IKEA

When the final of Considition 2024 concluded yesterday, the team "Mjölkens vänner" emerged as winners. Per Odqvist and his 17-year-old daughter Dawn impressed with their algorithm and took home the first prize: a gift card worth 40 000 kronor at IKEA.

At 7:00 PM on Thursday, the live broadcast of the Considition 2024 final began on Consid’s Twitch channel. A total of 156 teams participated in this year’s competition, including university students, a high school class from southern Sweden, and a large group of professionals.

This year’s edition was held in collaboration with Ikano Bank and involved developing an algorithm to quickly and easily assess a loan application. The winner was awarded a 40,000 kronor gift card at IKEA. Emil Krslak, a software engineer at Consid, was the one who developed this year’s challenge.

– It’s definitely nerve-wracking and a bit exciting on an evening like this, when something you’ve spent so much time developing is being tested live. The results have been very exciting to follow, and I’ve thought a lot myself about how one could solve the task, which added an extra thrill to seeing how the teams approached it.

The team that stood as the winner after the evening’s final was “Mjölkens vänner,” consisting of Per Odqvist and his daughter Dawn Odqvist.

My 17 year old daughter studies programming in high school and we competed together last year as well: because of her class competing we got familiar with this competition and thought it would be a fun project to try out together, says Per.

What will you do with the gift card?

– I have to decide that with my daughter, replies Per.

Dawn has a clear idea of how the gift card should be used:

– A new wardrobe!
