Considition 2025 Concludes – The Future EV-Charging in Focus

This year’s edition of the global hackathon Considition, organised by Consid in collaboration with Vattenfall, has now concluded. The competition, themed “Sustainable Electric Vehicle Charging”, attracted 237 teams from eight countries. Combining creativity, algorithmic precision and a strong focus on sustainability, participants took on the challenge of developing innovative solutions for the future of electric vehicle charging in urban environments.

– It’s fantastic to see the level of innovation and commitment that Considition continues to foster. This year, participants have truly demonstrated how AI and machine learning can help address real sustainability challenges, says Emilia Bentzer, Project Manager for Considition at Consid.

Winning Teams and Solutions

First place was awarded to Chalmers student Rasmus Hulthe from Gothenburg, whose innovative algorithm successfully optimised EV charging while balancing customer satisfaction, energy distribution and cost efficiency. Hulthe was pleasantly surprised by his win:

– I spent around 50 hours and developed 50 different solutions before arriving at the winning one. I wasn’t expecting to win at all – so I’ve no idea what I’ll do with the prize money! I’d love to compete again next year.

Second place went to Pär Odqvist from Borås, while Kristian Ekman from Solna secured third place.

In addition to the top three, prizes were also awarded in the categories Best Single Player Award, Most Creative Algorithm, Best Worst Algorithm, and Achievement Hunters.

The winners shared a prize pool of over SEK 50,000, with the overall winner given the choice between “The Sustainability Roadtrip” – an electric car experience with a hotel package – or a Tech Gift Card worth SEK 40,000.

A Hackathon with Real-World Impact

In this year’s challenge, participants developed algorithms for the game PowerZone, which simulates an electric vehicle charging network. The goal was to use AI and machine learning to create intelligent, sustainable charging solutions for urban environments.
